Ryu isn't much different than anyone else who grew up on 'the wrong side of town'. She does what she likes, and doesn't always let other people in on what she's thinking. Sometimes she's anti-social, but she likes to be around friends. Her mood can swing quickly from being the sweetest [That she can be] to a cornered pit bull if you get on her bad side - which is normally never seen. She never gets excited over anything, but she always shows interest in things. Indirectly is the only way she gets her true feelings out, and it's mostly in riddles that normally only make sense if you think of it for quite a few days, though she can come up with them just like that.
This girl is a daredevil in disguise, and will do anything if someone dares her to. She has almost no instincts of a woman - she never wears skirts, tight shirts, anything of that sort, and she mostly wears nothing but dark clothes, and hates pink anything. If one of her friends wears pink though, she's fine with it - just as long as she's not wearing it. She has great arm strength, obviously stronger than that of a regular girl her age, and with that great hand-eye coordination, but she can't run a few feet without looking where she's stepping else she'll trip.
Ryu spends most her time writing stories that are very much imaginative. She says random things sometimes, and she loves laughing whenever she finds something funny. Dorkish at some times, and serious at others, it's always unpredictable of how she's going to act one day then the next day. Some days she can't get enough of talking, and other days it's just a few words and nothing else.
Even though she seems a bit emo, Ryu can get along with most anyone, but if you mess with her, you can count on getting messed with right back. She likes to do a lot of things, and if she doesn't know how to do it, she always wants to learn as long as it's not from a book. She especially likes to learn things without any help. At times she can be a bit geeky - she knows a lot about computers, which was sometimes her main interest while at home, and she can figure out most any problem: riddle; jigsaw puzzle; whatever.
Ryu tends to stick with a few friends. She had friends scattered around here and there at school, but she tends to stick around her closest ones, so if you have her as a close friend, you can bet on a good friendship for life.

Born on October 17, Ryu was an adopted child. Her birth parents had actually not wanted her in the first place, and were thinking about having an abortion before it was too late to do it. They kept her for a few days, then just gave her away to the first person who said they'd take her.
Her adopted, and one still current, parents were always fighting no matter what. Their names - Jane and Bill Thress. It was mostly her father's fault that they fought, and he got drunk all the time. Her mother always tried to keep her safe from him by being home as much as she could, then leaving with Ryu anytime he got too drunk to think straight. So basically, Ryu spent half her life in a hotel room with her mom, while her dad was probably sleeping with some other woman. When she was old enough to understand why they left the house a lot, Ryu was always asking why her mother didn't divorce him.
13 - Two years passed and Ryu's question still went unanswered. Her father got drunk one night at a bar and tried driving home. Naturally, he ran into another car and died. Her mother seemed somewhat glad he was gone, but it didn't really make a difference to Ryu since she didn't really get to know him. The only thing that'd really changed for her was that she wasn't constantly making unexpected..or more expected..trips to a nearby hotel to sleep there for a night or two; and that the constant bickering between her mom and dad had died along with her father. Not having a father didn't really affect her life somehow. Sure she had to tell a few people her father died, but she didn't take it as hard as some other people took it.
She stuck mostly to school, but then got bored with. Her mother kept threatening her to do something about it when she found out that her grades were slipping fast, but she never did. Ryu just showed up at school sometimes whenever she felt like it, but didn't bother to do anything school-related. Sure- she got detentions, a lot, but she never showed up for them, so she got even more detentions for not showing up at those detentions, but she never showed up for those, and so on. She just didn't care about school, or anything else really for that matter. Ryu just wanted to be herself - and school wasn't even on her list of things to accomplish in her life. She wanted to write most of all - which she did instead of classwork. During any free time she had, she's hang out with all the different crowds in school - everyone - which led her into alcohol for obvious reasons.
[14 to 15] - Freshman year in high school. She was lucky enough to have gotten into high school in the first place. Ryu continued to just sit around most the time. She never did her homework, but she did well on tests, which was the only reason she didn't get forced into summer school. Her mother, worried that it may be something that she did wrong in raising her, then sent her off to a camp where she hoped she might meet new people...
